Nicaragua

Our group went down to Nicaragua a couple of weeks ago. I have so many pictures I'd like to share. But for now, we are all writing in a blog about what we learned.

Come read it!

Sky is womb, she's the moon

Video blog entry I guess. (The audio is very soft--might need earbuds to hear)
This is a song by Bon Iver called Flume. Its got great lyrics :)

I am my mother's only one
It's enough
I wear my garment so it shows
Now you know

Only love is all maroon
Gluey feathers on a flume
Sky is womb and she's the moon

I am my mother on the wall,

with us all
I move in water, shore to shore;
Nothing's more

Only love is all maroon
Lapping lakes like leary loons
Leaving rope burns -- Reddish ruse

Only love is all maroon
Gluey feathers on a flume
Sky is womb and she's the moon

Freezing Rain

Today I saw a man
hurrying down the streets in a thick dark peacoat heavy like the snow
upon rigid shoulders that have not seen sun since
the last time his daughter asked him to play in the sand.
She poked around his pockets for stale candy
and found a large hand and a tight squeeze.
His fingers now wind-chapped and dry
nuzzled deep into the small hole
that lost him a couple of keys and coins.
He turned the corner and we parted ways
and both of us shuffled across the slippery roads
forward and slow while accumulating freezing droplets of
rain from the edge of our noses and brows
until we melted clear into icicles
narrow dagging strips
on this cold day.
